| 1 | Set your DSL modem to bridge mode. Visit the Configuring Your DSL Modem for a Home Network page for further instructions on how to do this. If you are using a Cable modem, you can skip to Step 2.
NOTE: Only your DSL modem and computer should be connected for this part. |
| 2 | Turn off the modem and router if they are both on. Take the Ethernet cord from your computer and plug it into the Internet, LAN, or WLAN port of the router. Take another Ethernet cord and connect the computer to the router. If your router has multiple Ethernet ports, plug the Ethernet cord into the first port (Port 1). |
| 3 | Turn on the modem. Wait between 10-15 seconds, then turn on the router. |
| 4 | Once an Internet connection has been established on your computer, configure your broadband router. Please select the type of router you have below:
Linksys E1000/E1200 for DSL & Cable Linksys WRTP54G for DSL Linksys WRTP54G for Cable
NOTE: We currently only have instructions for the above router(s). The configuration may be the same if the brand of your router is similar to any of the aforementioned router(s). |
| 5 | Turn off the modem and router. Disconnect the computer from the router. |
| 6 | Connect the PowerLine adapter to the computer using an Ethernet cord. Click the link below to configure your PowerLine adapter.
NOTE: We currently only have support for the above adapter(s). The configuration may be the same if the brand of your adapter is similar to any of the aforementioned adapter(s). |
| 7 | Turn off the adapter. Disconnect the adapter from the computer and connect it to the router (Port 1). Turn on the modem. Wait 10-15 seconds, then turn on the router. Wait 5-10 seconds, then turn on the adapter. |
| 8 | Connect the other device(s) you want on your network to a PowerLine USB adapter. Follow the steps in Article 33131. |
