You can use Outlook express to check your PeoplePC email. To add email addresses to Outlook express, or view your current email settings, follow the instructions below:

Note: If you have installed the PeoplePC Connection Software, Outlook Express will already be set up to send and receive your PeoplePC email. Learn more about the Connection Software now!

Although Outlook Express is probably already set up to send and receive your PeoplePC email, you may want to add another email account.

From the Outlook Express Tools menu, choose Accounts. The Internet Accounts screen will appear.

You may already see your primary PeoplePC email address in the main window. Click Add, then select Mail. The Internet Connection screen will appear.

Enter your name as you would like it to appear to people who receive emails from you, then click Next.

Enter the email address you want to add. Be sure to type the entire address, including everything after the @ sign. Click Next to continue.

Enter the details for your PeoplePC email settings:

  • Incoming mail server type: POP3
  • Incoming mail server name: pop.peoplepc.com
  • Outgoing mail server name: smtpauth.peoplepc.com


Click Next to continue.

Enter the account name and password for the PeoplePC email address you just added. In the account name field, be sure to type the entire email address, including everything after the @ sign.

 

If you would rather not type your password every time you go online, check the Remember password box. Your computer will automatically fill in your password when you sign in.

Click Next to continue.

All the information for your new email address has now been added. Click Finish to return to the Internet Accounts screen and add more detailed information.

The email account you just added is now visible in the Internet Account window, probably listed as pop.peoplepc.com. Double-click it to open the Properties screen.

Click the General tab. Under Mail Information, change the name to differentiate this account from your other PeoplePC email addresses. For example, "Work" or "Home".

Do not change anything in the User Information section.

The the Servers tab, then check My server requires authentication box.

Click the Advanced tab. Change the number in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box to 587. Then click OK to save the changes and return to the Internet Accounts screen.

Close the Internet Accounts screen.

The email address has now been set up in Outlook Express!

All email sent to the new email address will now appear in Outlook Express. When you compose a new message in Outlook Express you will get to choose which email address you want to send it from.
